Christmas 2008

Tunica Girls' Trip

St. Pedro's

Not Me Monday

I did not get up at 5:45 A.M. this morning to get to court early to please the judge. I wasn't on pins and needles all morning hoping that my client of 4 years would successfully enter his plea, because my file does not consist of an entire copy paper box and about 30 witnesses. Sure, I'd love to have taken that to trial....not. This weekend, I didn't chase my friend's dog around the neighborhood because he escaped from the fence, not once, but twice. I'm sure no one found watching me run and chase a really fast dog very entertaining.

This morning, I did not say a quiet "yes" to myself when my case that was set for trial on Wednesday was dismissed, even though I had a chance at winning. And since I've done so well on my diet for the past few days and exercised for the past five days in a row, I'm not about to drive my butt to Sonic and get a Dr.Pepper for a reward, and I'm not not going to work out today!

So what's been going on???

Over the last couple of weeks, I've gotten out a little more than I usually do, and have some really cute pictures to prove it. Two weekends ago, we took a girls trip to Tunica, courtesy of Nina, and shopped at Collierville and had a fabulous meal at the Magnolia Restaurant in the Horseshoe Casino. Somehow we only managed to take one picture, but I will post it later.

This past weekend, we had a little fiesta....called St. Pedro's Drunko de Marcho. We all wore sombreros and mustaches and had a good time. I'll post those pictures later.

As for my hubby, I've been getting a bit frustrated lately because he works ALL the time. He has three jobs, and while I used to really enjoy my alone time when he was working, and sometimes I still do, it was getting to be a bit much. So, I did not tell him to quit a job, I just said "I'll be glad when you don't work at the bar anymore." So last night he told them he was done, but eventually agreed to work every other Thursday night until they find another bartender. I'll take that for now. He has been working two to four nights a week and that's just too much. Plus, he does this rental property management which is much more work for him than I expected when I agreed to let him do it. At first, I was helping with the cleaning and painting and such, because I felt bad about not helping, but after I went and painted and cleaned the most disgusting apartment I've ever seen, and a roach crawled across my toe, I told him not to ever ask me to do any type of physical labor again. I didn't go to school for seven years to do that crap. I do the books and that's it. I hate painting and cleaning and have that done at my own house. Why would I want to clean someone else's nasty place? Yuck! Of course, we now have 34 units, and that's a lot of bookwork. Clint's idea of organization is "I'll throw it in my truck and find it when I need it" which makes it a real pain in the butt every month when I update and balance! So, no I don't like the property management stuff, but hopefully soon we will have almost all of the units rented and there won't be so much work for him to do, except collect rent. I keep telling myself that eventually this will be worth the time and effort.

Well, I'm off to Anna's to do our lunch walk and eat our Lean Cuisines. I can just see the pounds falling off already!

Never would I....

Okay, so I got this idea from my BFF Sarah, who is really good at this, and now I'm going to try it, so here goes:

I am not late to work every day. As a matter of fact, I did not roll into the office today at my usual appearance time...9:30. I probably will not be leaving early today too because I just don't do that. I am not trying to lose weight because my butt is not too big. I don't miss my husband when he does not work all the time. And a few months ago when he was not not working, I surely didn't wish he would go back to work. I never badmouth my clients either because they are not mostly idiots and they NEVER lie to me. Why lie? Lying to your attorney doesn't create any additional unnecessary work when she has all the time in the world for that. And even though I've worked here for almost four years, I would never expect that my newest client will inevitably lie to me.

If this is bad, I didn't do it.
