Susan

I've got another prayer request. I got to the office today after court and Melissa and Sherry told me that another attorney in my office, who is also a good friend of mine, Susan Korsnes, had a stroke yesterday and is in ICU in Memphis. I don't know much but that, so please keep her in your prayers. She's had a tough time lately, and stays stressed, but hopefully she will fully recover and be back to work soon. Her job here is probably the most stressful though, so we'll see. We sure do miss her and I am probably going to the hospital today or tomorrow and I'll report back on her progress.

Great Progress so far!

Once again, I apologize for not updating this blog regularly. I have big plans for this year. This is the year that I am going to lose weight (Clint and I both), quit smoking, have a kid, update this blog more regularly, bring my lunch to work and quit eating out so much, cut back on the DP, and the list goes on. Like I said, I have big plans.

As for Puddon, she is doing great. I spent a week and a half there for her surgery, taking care of Major, and going back and forth to Shreveport. The surgery was last Tuesday at Schumpert and she stayed in ICU until Saturday, when she was moved to a room. I talked to Daddy last night and he said she was moved to Glenwood long-term after care for rehab. She will hopefully only have to stay there 2-3 weeks. The doctor said the surgery went as expected, and he can't say that he got all the cancer because he is not 100% sure. Apparently they never are. I guess if a surgeon said that it would be like me saying to a client: "I know that I can get you off on this charge." Yeah, can't do that.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers and concerns about Puddon. You all know how close I am to her and it means a lot to know that everyone is so concerned. This battle is not over yet so please keep praying!

After Christmas Update

We just returned from 5 days at home in Louisiana last night, so needless to say, we are exhausted. I did not want to go back to work today. My eye started twitching on the way! It hasn't done that since last week at work. We had a great time and got great gifts at Christmas. I will post pictures whenever I can locate my USB cable for my camera. I seem to have misplaced it, which is no surprise. It will turn up. We stayed with Puddon this time, so I was able to spend a lot more time with her and Major. I did a lot of cleaning, dishes and laundry to make sure the house was kept up while I was there. Puddon is scheduled to go into the hospital next week, Jan. 5, in Shreveport, and she will have surgery on Tues the 6th. I will be leaving again Thursday to go home and will be there all next week. I could not believe how far she had come when I got home last week. Her progress is amazing from a month ago when we were there for Thanksgiving. Except for losing a little weight and doing a lot of resting, she looked like Puddon again!!

Sorry it's been so long

I honestly thought that I would be really good at this whole blog thing, but so far I'm not doing too well am I? I will try and do better. I can give an update on Puddon. She was admitted into the hospital on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and she stayed until this past Friday. She went Friday to see the oncologist and it turns out the chemo didn't really help. The cancer did not grow, but it did not shrink. So, she is going on the 15th I think for a consult with the surgeon. I think she has about decided to have the surgery, but it won't be until after the first of the year because she need to regain her strength. She is feeling better though. Let's all keep praying!

There hasn't been much else going on here. I've been really busy with work. I had an Attempted First Degree Murder trial last week and got my rear kicked. We lost, but I kind of expected that we might. Clint has been on this duck hunting kick. He went dear hunting with Daddy while we were home, and last week and this week he gone to Caro, Illinois to duck hunt. I don't guess I mind so much. I get a little time to myself : )

Oh yeah, I had a birthday Saturday. I did a bunch of nothing. I washed clothes, wrapped Christmas presents, and then Clint and I went out to dinner. That was about it! Sunday Nina and I went shopping in Memphis.

Guess who's back?

He's back. Yes, I mean Spanky. Long story short - this little cutie pants came into our home just before we went on our cruise. My friend called and asked if I wanted him, that he followed her son home from school. She had 5 dogs of her own, so I went and got him. We named him Spanky. Then, a week and a half later we went on vacation and he spent some time with Chris and Kelly and their two dogs. He acted up while there. See, he's not been neutered (soon to change), so he humps and pees and poops all over everything. So, we get back from vacation, and two weeks later we had a yard sale. Spanky had used the potty all over my house, and we decided to find a good home for him. Plus, he and Bagel were having relations every chance they could. So, this nice couple took him home. That was a month ago. I was sad, but I figured they would take good care of him. Didn't get their names, numbers, anything, but my tag with his name and my number was still around his neck. Fastforward to this past Thursday. I get a call from a lady in Beech Bluff (LONG way from my house, but still in Jackson), and she asks if I have a black and white dog. I panic thinking it's Darcy, but then I realized it was Spanky. So Clint said to go get him and I went and got him. I'm not sure if those other people put him out or he ran away. I haven't seen where he's been reported missing, so I suppose he's here to stay. He has an appointment to get his manhood removed on Monday. I guess it's God's will for Spanky to live with us!

Prayer Request

Hi everyone. As most of you know, my sweet sweet 86 year old grandmother, who we call Puddon, was diagnosed in early September with colon cancer. She began chemo about two weeks later and was actually able to complete six weeks of chemo and radiation. She did really well the first half of it, but then she got dehydrated and needed fluids, then two units of blood, and then fluids again. She finished last week and got a diploma (really? I can't believe they give those out for this), but she is not doing very well. She's in a lot of pain and having to take pain pills round the clock. Every time I talk to her, she sounds worse and worse. She goes this Saturday for a PET scan to determine how much of the cancer the chemo/radiation got. She will find out the results on December 2. Clint and I are going home next week for the holidays, and trust me, Wednesday cannot come soon enough. I'm so homesick that, well, I'm sick. I'm asking you all to please keep her in your prayers, and pray that she recovers from this and regains her strength. Also please pray that the results of the PET scan are good so that she does not have to have a colostomy, which after all of this, I don't think she's going to do anyway. She said she hasn't lost any of her hair, but last night when I talked to her, she was hoping to be able to get her hair done today. She said it doesn't have a perm but that she'll just wear the straight look for a while...I can't imagine that b/c I've only ever seen her with a perm! Thank you so much for your prayers! Here's a picture of her back in April when she competed in her last Senior Olympics.

Under the Weather

Yes, Clint and I are under the weather. We have a nasty cold, at least I hope that's all it is. I got sick first, and was sick as a dog during my jury trial on Wednesday. Then Clint started to feel bad today. So, I've been hibernating except for court appearances. Hopefully we will get better this weekend. If you haven't heard from us, that's probably why!
